Malawi Mission Trip

The following is the recap from the mission team in Malawi! We have had some problems with the blog so we apologize for not posting these daily!

Day One
Greetings from Malawi! After a grueling 35 hours in the air, our team arrived in Salima at 0600 Sunday morning. We spent the morning in worship at the local Baptist church. After that we spent the day trying to adjust to Africa time. Today, the Medical Team served in the clinic. We saw children with Malaria, Mumps, and people of all ages with wounds. The Children’s and Women’s Ministry Teams were eager to help in the clinic by taking vital signs and dividing up prescription medications. Tomorrow all three teams will be in action in our various locations. It has definitely been an adventurous two days, complete with baboons, cars getting stuck in the sand, and Pastor Mark preaching to a chicken! We have enjoyed this time and look forward to continue serving God and the people of Malawi for the remainder of the week. Keep us and the people of Malawi in your prayers.

Malawi Day 2 and 3

We are all adjusting well to Malawi time. It is incredibly busy for us working in the medical clinic. Each practitioner is seeing 30-50 patients per day. The predominant diagnosis is Malaria. Also, we are seeing a lot of wounds, skin infections, and respiratory illnesses. It is overwhelming, but an incredible way to be the hands and feet of Jesus. All of our medical work here is definitely His work.

VBS is going great!  The children enjoy our songs and learning our English names. They get a huge thrill from soccer balls, bubbles, and stickers. They love hearing us try and speak "Chichewa", which is their language. We are learning songs and new dance moves. It's a great time in the Lord for all of us.

The women's ministry had a magical day when they washed the feet of the ladies at the church. The ladies enjoyed it so much and even cheered when it was announced what would be happening!  Their eyes lit up and they were so very grateful. The women's ministry team gave these women love, respect, and a feeling of beauty that they may not have otherwise received. What an amazing way to show these women the heart of Jesus. It was truly beautiful.

Our teams in Malawi are beginning to wrap up our missions. The medical team has one more day in clinic. There is one more day of VBS. the women's ministry team has wrapped up their portion of the trip. It was an emotional moment for all. The ladies enjoyed their time with our LBC ministry team. I truly believe everyone was brought closer to the Lord.

Tomorrow we will head out to a wildlife reserve and do some shopping before VBS in the afternoon. Saturday we get back on the plane for another 30+ hours of travel back to Texas and our loved ones.

We have had some wonderful devotions lead by the members of our team. It has been quite an honor and privilege getting to know this wonderful group of people and helping each other serve the Lord.

Fort Collins, CO Day 4 & 5

Day 2 & 3 of Adventure Camp were absolutely wonderful. The Lord allowed it to rain early Tuesday morning and for the automated sprinklers to go off in only one area of the park before Adventure Camp started. On day 2, students learned that Jesus Is The Truth and continued to rotate through 6 stations. Day 3 looked a little different in that, we had 3 bounce houses the students rotated through along with making a craft. The theme for the day was Jesus Is The Life. Through out all 3 days, student learned that Jesus Is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. Students were then provided the opportunity to accept Christ as their Savior and 7 students did!! WHOOOO HOOOOOOO!! Wednesday evening we hosted a youth get together with the youth of Living Rock and the youth of FBChoctaw. This was a precious evening where the youth were able to play games and bond with each other before going to camp in July. Today, we have Family Day and will be making our way to Estes Park to view God's beautiful scenery.

Fort Collins, CO Day 2

We began this beautiful Sunday finishing a few last minute touches and preparing for worship at Living Rock Church. We finished putting the tent up for Kid Rock (PreK-6th graders) and doing a few last minute cleanups. We all divided up and worked in separate areas, some with Stepping Stones (babies - 4 years olds), others with Camp Rock (PreK - 6th grade) and others attended the service. After service was over, we returned both rooms back to the way they were previously. After lunch, we spent the entire afternoon preparing for 200+ kids at Adventure Camp that will be held Monday - Wednesday. Please pray that God will do BIG things in the lives of these children and adults in the next few days at Adventure Camp.

Fort Collins, CO Day 1

Hello from Fort Collins, CO!

Our entire team of 12 adults and children made it safely to Fort Collins, CO. Praise the Lord! We started our day off at the home of Kelly & Brandi Parrish were we were able to hear their story about how God brought them to Fort Collins and how their home has been used to serve Him. We then made our way to Walker Lawn Mowers facility, AKA Living Rock Church, to set up and prepare for church tomorrow morning. We transformed two rooms into a sanctuary and a children's wing. and we learned how Sunday morning will look. We then returned to the Parrish home to prepare desserts for the welcoming of Choctaw First Baptist youth. When Choctaw First Baptist arrived, we all sat and learned about the core values that have been the main topic the last few Sundays at Living Rock; Being Gospel centered, Authentic Relationships, Generosity, and Multiplication. Please pray that Lakeside Baptist and Choctaw First Baptist will become one with Living Rock, and that we will show these core values with the individuals we come into contact with.

Here are some pictures from today.
